Abstract An ultra-compact plasmonic unidirectional wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer based on slot cavities is proposed and numerically simulated. The structure consists of which are etched either sides a metal–insulator–metal (MIM) bus waveguide. capture surface plasmon polariton (SPP) waves at their resonant wavelengths unidirectionally couples them to the drop waveguide parallel bus. basically relies resonance interference SPP its functioning validated through finite element method (FEM) simulations. simulation results show that functions as expected with full width half maximum (FWHM) bandwidth less than 50 nm, extinction ratio (ER) more 10 dB, crosstalk (CT) − dB for designed wavelengths. holds lot potential enhance miniaturization integrated photonic circuits optical signal processing other related applications.
